Easter Dinner
The new flooring and rebuilding the sub-structure took much longer than planned and so some things just were over looked. However, once the flooring was done, everything turned out well. Rumor has it they may have found some Easter eggs while doing the work! We will be better next year for certain on the menu. It turned out the menu was a buffet and folks seemed to like what was a cooking. Thanks for your understanding during our remodeling.

The forces of nature cooperated and granted us beautiful weather for the X-Rides this year. Both races and food were enjoyed by the many attendees.
The plans are already in the works for 2009 - we hope to see an even larger turn-out for the rides being held the first weekend in May 2009, so make some plans to come on out and bring your bike, or feel free to just come out to visit and cheer on the participants! Many thanks and appreciation goes out to all the numerous folks who made this weekend in May of 2008 such a success. Ride on and into the night with the light from above and enjoy where the stars and heavens take you, as we did. Until next year, keep the gears shifting and the wind at your back.

UFO Friendship Camp Out Conference

BBQ to get to know each other, a sort of meet and greet session. This is informal and the attendees decide what and how long things are going to happen. Be ready for a party to kick this all off. Good time to get your alien items and tables set up for selling, trading, or whatever you intend to do with the things you have brought for the event. Main thing, just have some fun.
Saturday the 24th
The speaking engagements start. Let us bring the house down with this one. Make it the best kick off to a great weekend like no other.
The main speakers for this year are some of the best in the field and we thank them for taking their time to be here with us, and for their most excellent presentations.

We are anticipating a good attendance, so it is a good idea to register early. Ike Bishop (world renown speaker) said, "People are encouraged to bring their Travel Trailers, Motor homes or tents for a memorable camp out experience.
The Final Summary:
We wanted to say thanks to all who came out and took part in this most successful event. The turn out was fantastic! We trust everyone had a most excellent time as did we. Your support was great. See you all next year as we do it all again! This was the best showing and most interactive event to date. They just keep setting the mark higher each and every year. Congrats to everyone involved.

'Round Nevada Classic Car Tour Charity Event by Big Al & Gary

- It's like the Hod Rod Power Tour without the
testosterone
- It's like the 'Great Race' without the great
expense!
Final Note:
We had a nice turnout for this event. We are hoping to get some pictures sent to us very soon after everyone gets back home and has some time to settle back down. We want to thank you all for coming and hope you had a great time. We would love to see this car tour come through Rachel and stop at the Little A’Le’Inn again as you will always be welcomed here. As you can tell from the photo above, if you like classic cars at all then you were in for a real treat. Our hats go off to all who supported this event and to those who found it in their hearts to donate to the various charities.

Father’s Day Dinner

We hope to see you all there as things get under way at 2 PM. I am getting hungry just thinking about it, are you? Make certain to bring the whole family for some enjoyment and great food.
The Turnout:
Thank you all for a nice quiet and lovely dinner. It was nice this year to final bring the Father’s Day tradition into our place and give them their dues. We all know how important a figure the Father of the household is and why we need to ensure and recognize them for what they do and bring forth in all our families. Thanks DAD for being you - we love, honor, and cherish our day with you.
June 21, 2008 (Saturday) Noon - 2 PM
Fire Truck Dedication

We strongly ask that all community members and anyone else who may be interested to please come out for the party and dedication ceremony. It should be a great time for all to have. We cannot be more greatly and appreciative in receiving this fire truck. More details will follow as time permits and a picture of the fire engine that will be donated to the Rachel community. Support your local area and make certain to be a part of history as it is being made on this date.
Special thanks go out to the town of Ceres, California who has donated this pumper truck to the community. Jeff Benziger (Managing Editor of The Ceres Courier) was most helpful in us getting a great picture of the old pumper truck. Please read the article about how this all came about here: Read the article.
There was an amazing heart felt turnout for Rachel receiving this fire truck. Considering the unfortunate event that set this whole process in motion. We cannot thank each and every person enough for supporting this effort. We applaud all who ever had a hand in making this become a true vision for this community. It was such an honor to be a part of this gift. The town of Ceres, California, thank you. The family Stevenson, we are there for you and all the pain you have endured throughout this process, as the man is now bigger than life, in such a way that so few could ever be remembered - we humbly thank you.
June 26, 2008 (Thursday) Late afternoon showing
The Dumball Rally

Even with the late arrival, the Dumball Rally was a great success. Everyone enjoyed the unique cars that made the trek out here - We think our favorite car was the one with the bull horns on the hood and the cow tail on the bumper, and how glad I was to be clear of that "bull" when it needed to "relieve it's self!" Of course, I'm pretty sure the bull won out in it's match with the cowboy - the boots in the front grill were quite the tell-tale sign! After having a bite to eat we will be doing an “Offroad” driving game in the parking lot. Effectively a very slow moving car (5 mph max) where the passenger has to try take the biggest bite out of Twinkie or hot dog dangled from a pole as the car drives by….biggest bite wins. A few of the cars pictures can be found here but I have attached a picture of my beater. Our basic premise is buy a cheap car, do it up beyond belief, then convoy from Portland to Vegas visiting cool spots like yours. We do games along the way to win points, biggest winner of the four legs will win it all. Your establishment is the end of Leg 3, and the Twinkie bite is the start of Leg 4! See you soon.Tim ...Be There Soon...Then again...
Now a few words from them:
Littlealeinn Crew: On behalf of everyone that participated in Dumball 2008, THANK YOU!! We had a great stop at your establishment. I adorned my friends and family with Alien effects, and told everyone of your gracious hospitality. Everyone made to Vegas that night, and there were no more major issues. We started the morning in Reno by replacing a water pump in a hotel parking lot. Sorry we were running late that Thursday, I felt terrible that Pat had waited so long for us. The food was great, and everyone there was lots of fun! We are planning future rally’s and will keep your place in mind! Tim, Courtney, Adam, and the rest of the Dumballers
June 27-28, 2008 (Friday - Arrival, & Saturday - Departure)
Texas 4000 Ride for Cancer

The Texas 4000 team is split into two smaller groups, to more effectively distribute our message. The Rocky route will travel through the Rocky mountains, while the Coastal route will make their way North via the West coast. The two groups will meet in Canada, completing the rest of the trip as one...
The Costal route will be traveling the Nevada Area
Jun 26 Veyo, UT to Caliente, NV 91.0 miles
Jun 27 Caliente, NV to Rachel, NV 83.0 miles
Jun 28 Rachel, NV to Tonopah, NV 109.0 miles
Jun 29 Tonopah, NV to Benton, CA 81.0 miles
Please come out and support this group’s effort to fight cancer as it is a most worthy cause. To learn more about this group please check out their website at this location. In addition, please consider making a donation to help them achieve their goals.
Our Feedback
We wish the riders in the Texas 4000 much success in their travels. We were glad to be able to assist and support them in their endeavors again this year. These young people have "hearts of gold" to spend so much time and energy supporting cancer awareness.
July 4, 2008 (Starts on a Friday at 7 p.m.)
4th of July BBQ
Price $8.99
Celebrate our nation's birthday with a "home town" style BBQ and friends (both old and new).
Unfortunately, due to high fire hazard, we will not have a fireworks display this year, however we can all enjoy nature's fireworks (brilliant stars) and perhaps the aliens will get involved with a light show for us or for that matter maybe Area 51 will throw something up special on this night. (We just never know what to expect from them!)
Our Thoughts
Wow what great weather and such a beautiful day for this holiday. The food was great as were all the folks who spent the day with us. If you missed out on the BBQ then you really missed a great feast. Thank you all for coming and hope to see you next year.
July 21 - August 1, 2008 (Starts on a Monday)

E.T. Full Moon Midnight Marathon, 1/2 & 10k Presented by Calico Racing
Running along the fringe of the mysterious Area 51, this stretch of highway (375) has an overwhelming number of reported UFO sightings. So much so, that in 1996 the federal government officially named highway 375 the "Extraterrestrial Highway". The ET Highway has become a gathering place for UFO enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. With elevations ranging from roughly 4000-5600 feet, the high desert will enchant you with gorgeous vegetation, surrounding mountains, and stunning vistas. An additional treat is the cooler temperatures. Rachel, NV is generally 15 degrees cooler than the Las Vegas Valley; coupled with a midnight run, temperatures should be in the 60's in August!
Last year this event brought out more than 200 runners who had such a great time that they are thinking about making it more than just and annual event! We strongly encourage all ages to take part in what is a fantastic time for all. The Little A’Le’Inn will be open all night of August 16 in order to provide support for whatever the runners may need. Come run, come eat, come drink, just make it a point to come and join in the fun.
For more information please go to their site and get signed up to take your spot at the starting line.
Thoughts Running Through Our Heads
This being only the second running of this event, it was amazing to see how well received the marathon world took this race. One magazine said that for the month of August this was thee race to attend. Imagine the great sense of accomplishment the organizer must be feeling after putting this together with such great attention to detail, caring for those who ran the races, and those who helped along the way to make this such a huge success. The count that we had for the number of participants was 391! WOW! This was totally mind bending and yet everything went without a hitch. Our hats off to all who took part in this event. Make certain to prepare yourselves for next year’s as it may just double in size as the word spreads. See the ET Marathon race results and see some of the photos.

Prison Staff Meeting in Rachel
A meeting is planned with the staff of the Planning Commission at the quonset hut in Rachel. Everyone should plan on attending this meeting so as to understand what this prison project will have an effect upon. We need everyone’s help to fight this private prison effort as it was dropped on us like a bomb shell and once we found out we were shocked to here how far along this project is and how close to a done deal it really has become. The question becomes why were the citizens of the town kept in the dark on this major interruption of their life style? Never were the folks given any information about even the consideration of this project.
September 11, 2008 (Thursday) 6:30 PM
Planning Commission Meeting
This meeting will take place at the court house in Pioche, Nevada. Again, any and all folks are welcome and asked to consider being there at all cost. This could be the end of life in Lincoln County, and the town of Rachel, as well as surrounding areas as we know them to be. This may be the very last opportunity to put a halt to this private prison.
A special note of thanks goes out to all of you who help support the town of Rachel and saying no to those who want to destroy the town and area around us. We cannot thank you enough for everything and all the efforts. JR & Richard and some others really went the extra mile to attend the meeting, organize a speech and protest, present new data that enlightened items not mentioned or that had been overlooked. Many of you had previous prison experience we found was invaluable to what we were seeking in order to present our case to the commission. So now we wait to see what is done. We will let you know as soon as we know anything at all...soon we hope.
Latest Update:
The commission approved 1250 of the requested 2000 beds. However, both parties are filing an appeal to the ruling. More to come as it becomes available.
October 11, 2008 (Saturday) at 4 PM cost $5.00
Community Pot Luck BBQ
Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy the BBQ. Bring someone, anyone, or just yourself and spend a beautiful day in the sun as October brings in some of the nicest weather and most beautiful scenic sunsets. In addition, should you decide to spend the night you can do some star gazing into one of the cleanest, clearest, star covered nights around. There is a reason for this being the UFO sighting capital of the world.
October 11 & 12, 2008 (Saturday & Sunday) at10 AM
Rachel Community Yard Sale
Proceeds going to the Rachel Community Center Fund. Everyone is invited to come out and see what treasures lie within the sales. Hope there exists something for everyone. Some say that you can buy just about anything, including the kitchen sink!
- The dinner and yard sales netted about $600 for the Community Fund of Rachel. All in all the turnout was great and lots of folks ended up with new items to take home with them. Thank you to all who supported the events.
